Malaysia Airlines Prepares for Contactless Air Travel Experience
(03 Mar 2021)
Malaysia Airlines is embarking on a journey that will
see it make the most of current and future technologies with the
aim of making contactless air travel a reality for its
passengers.
This will start at home, where passengers can
create and customize their bookings such as select preferred
meals, seats and other services with the integration of enhanced
features on Malaysia Airlines’ mobile app.
Biometric facial recognition
technology will take over several boarding procedures and
verifications of travel documents, offering a hassle-free and
contactless check-in, security clearance and boarding processes.
Other new features that will be made available on
the airline’s app include the e-wallet cashless payment option that
will allow passengers to buy seat upgrades and make last-minute
purchases.
On top of that, passengers will also be able to access e-reading
materials such as its inflight magazine, Going Places and check
out the e-menu
to see the onboard dining selection.
Malaysia Airlines also plans to
Integrate IATA Travel Pass into its Own App so that customers
can easily check that they have all the required, and officially
approved, COVID19 documentation for anywhere they may be flying to
and from.
Malaysia Airlines’ Group Chief Operations Officer,
Ahmad Luqman Md Azmi, said, “As an airline that puts customer
experience at the centre of everything we do, we will continue to
focus on driving attributes that meet customers’ evolving needs
and preferences especially related to their safety and comfort.”
The airline has published the following short video
to showcase upcoming features that will be
implemented during departure and arrival at Kuala Lumpur
International Airport (KLIA).
